CalFresh Awareness Month

May is CalFresh Awareness Month! CalFresh is the statewide food benefits program that helps individuals 18+ buy more groceries. You may receive CalFresh if you get unemployment benefits, child support, or disability benefits. CalFresh Awareness Month teaches Californians about food benefits, the CalFresh application process, and myths about eligibility requirements.

HOW DOES CALFRESH WORK?

You get money for groceries on an easy-to-use card each month. Use it like a debit card in stores, online and at your local farmers market. At checkout, just swipe your CalFresh card, pick EBT, and enter your PIN.

HOW TO APPLY?

Apply for CalFresh in three easy steps:

  1. Answer some short questions and submit a few documents at CalFreshFood.org, or call 1-877-847-3663 (FOOD).

  2. Have a short phone interview with a CalFresh representative.

  3. If you’re accepted, your CalFresh card will arrive within 30 days.

More than 2 million people like you are eligible for CalFresh and haven’t applied.
